Cyprus has been an interesting month for me. It’s fairly European so that part is easy but seeing needs that I cannot meet has been a little more challenging. I am a fixer, I get that from my momma. This month I am learning what it looks like to lean into the TRUE fixer. Here is a poem I wrote about what I’m learning.
She doesn’t know the language,
Neither do I,
I can pray for her.
She needs housing,
I can take her to coffee,
I can pray for her.
She needs food,
I can take her to lunch,
I can pray for her.
She needs a job,
I have nothing to offer,
I can pray for her.
She needs to know where her children are,
I can listen,
I can pray for her.
She needs to know they are safe,
I cannot imagine,
I can pray for her.
She needs hope in a broken world,
I can share mine,
I can pray for her.
She needs Jesus.
I can pray for her.
There are many faces behind the She,
He knows them all.
He has introduced me to a few…
I am sure you know her too,
We can pray for her.
Sharing with you about my time in Cyprus has been difficult because I can not share pictures or stories about individuals who are applying for refugee status… But I can tell you that they are people. They have needs, some physical, some spiritual. There are great men and women working to meet those needs and build relationships. There is power in prayer. Pray for the different nationalities coming into this country as well as the hearts of the people receiving them. Pray that the Lord would be at work in these difficult circumstance and that hearts would be receptive. Gosh, I know that sounds so vague, but He is working here! He is using wonderful organizations like Oasis to do it. I am excited to have had the opportunity to work with and learn from them. I know the Lord is going to continue to use them in mighty ways. Pray for Oasis and the volunteers. That they would continue to receive the funding they need. For easy communication with the Cypriot government. For local workers to come along and lighten the load. For discernment and wisdom in the leaders.
