13 years

Looking back, that’s how long God has made me wait to be able to have another shot at coming back to Romania after he closed the door on my first opportunity to come here.

You see back in the summer of 2006 I had the chance to go on a week long mission trip to Romania with my church, and I really wanted to go but I wasn’t able to go since I was serving an internship at Valley Forge NHP in King of Prussia PA.  I was upset that I couldn’t go as I really wanted to have a chance to serve on another mission trip, but logistically it wouldn’t have worked out cause I would have had to lose out on 2 weeks of my 10 week internship, and at the time serving out my internship was more important to me then serving God since I wanted to be able to land a good job working for the National Park Service as a historical interp ranger which I did end up landing a seasonal ranger job in NYC the next summer following graduation.

This story is one that I had forgotten about until October of 2017 when I was watching the route revel webcast for October 2018, and after the first 2 routes were reveled I pretty much had my heart set on leaving in August 2018 as neither one of the 1st 2 routes had any appeal to me, but just as I was about to turn off the webcast something told me to wait til the end, and even though I rolled my eyes and sighed heavily as I didn’t want to sit there any longer watching it, I ended up watching the final October route revel.

I am so happy I did since it was through certain countries on route 3 that God confirmed to me that he wanted me to leave in October rather then August, and those 3 countries were:

Vietnam-Romania-Uganda

(check out one of my early blogs titled: Route 3 for the stories behind the other 2 countries)

As soon as Romania came across my screen, I knew that was the sign from God telling me about his next step for me in my life, and that going on the World Race was part of his plan for me at this season in my life, and that now was the right time for me to go and fulfill that promise I had made to him as well.

So here I am sitting on the couch down in the common area of the church where my team and I are living/serving with this month alongside another team.  Our ministry is helping out with the church’s ministry of serving the kids who live in the ghettos as well as serving the homeless here in the town of Pitesti Romania in addition to being the 24/7 caretakers of the church this month, and attending church service every Sunday where at least one of us is require to share our testimony (I shared mine this morning in church.)

The lesson I learned from this was to never doubt God’s plan for our path in our lives as he knows those plans way better then we can even fathom, and to trust in those plans as our father knows what is best for us even if we may not think its best for us, and want to try things our own way as it will fail every single time when we go about it on our own.

Not to forget the fact that I have also gained 32 awesome siblings in Christ by means of P squad and the awesome relationships that I have among each one of them (who knows if I would’ve found that on K squad?-the squad I would’ve been on had I left in August)  P Squad I LOVE YOU GUYS!

Til next time your fellow sister in Christ,
