Baby. (Ok I couldn’t resist writing that, hehe)
In all seriousness tho I am currently in a coffee shop at the El Salvador airport with some of my squadmates, waiting to go to our gate for our flight to Orlando to begin our long trek to Vietnam.
Here’s my route: El Salvador-Orlando- Chi-town-Tokyo-Saigon
Yep you read that right, I get to be back in the good ole US of A for a day and a half, and to be honest it is gonna feel weird to me (especially the fact that Chicago is 6 hours from home, but we only have a 2 hour layover there, dang.)
So I thought I take this time and wrap up my ministry here in El Salvador, and give you some final thoughts of my time here in Central America.

My team’s and I month serving at the Mi Casa orphanage was so freaking incredible! My team and I bonded with both the boys and girls, and just us getting to spend each day with them during their school break was so awesome. From the very first day that we arrived there til today when we got dropped off at the airport, we were shown so much love by them just as much as we gave them love back. It made me not miss being at home for the holidays too bad because I felt like I was home with 30 plus (total-boys & girls together plus my teammates) brothers & sisters as well as aunts & uncles, and we celebrated it just like a normal family would during the holidays.
One of my favorite parts of our month was when we went to the park with the boys and played soccer with them that very first night we got there as well as setting/throwing fireworks off into the street on New Years Eve.
Bob and his wife along with the rest of his staff are amazing people. They welcomed us with open arms, and immediately made my team and I feel like we were a part of their family. Bob and his wife are such servants of the Lord, and are such a warm & loving couple, and they truly have an amazing mission to help the kids get the education that they deserve & the life that they deserve. All of these kids that despite their past were just so loving and open with us, sharing what they had, and serving us when we should be serving them. It was such a pleasure to get to know each one of them, and be a part of their lives.
The girls taught me a valuable lesson in the fact that no matter what our past is, we should live each day with a joyful heart, and not to let our past define who we are because God knows who we really are, and he loves us just the same.
I have also grown more in my faith this month as well, and I’ve learned to start to lean more on the Holy Spirit, and I am beginning to get a clearer picture of the plan that God has for my life as I feel like he is calling to some kind of bigger leadership role.
So yeah, I wouldn’t trade this month in for anything in world as so far month 3 in El Salvador has been my favorite month.
If you would like to help out the Kids of Mi Casa- go and google them to check out their website & donate to or help sponsor a kid and their education for these kids are the future of El Salvador!
It’s hard to believe that I am done with a 1/3 of our race so far, and now I am leaving Central America and heading to Southeast Asia. I am so excited for Vietnam as it is so personal to me, and in Cambodia we will be having team changes, so after that Team Surrendered will be no more (unless by the grace of God our leadership team sees what Bob wrote about us)
Reminder that my blog will be password protected this month: Psquad2019
Pray for safe travels for my squad and I as we embark on the next leg of our World Race journey!
Pray for me to have a good outlook with my team doing ATL/unsung heroes this month as I am still having my doubts about if I can do it.
Til next time your fellow sister in Christ,
Bonnie
