I had just gotten off overnights as a member of the remodel team, and back on days during my normal role as a electronics team member, and the 4th quarter/holiday season hadn’t fully kicked into gear yet. I had opened electronics that morning as was towards the end of my shift which got over at 430 when all of a sudden my phone ringtone went off, and I jumped for I was not expecting it to go off, but I took it off its holster and looked at it. It was a unknown number from Georgia, and at first I wanted to decline the call. “Oh crap” I thought as I suddenly remembered that a couple days before I had interviewed to go on something called the World Race, and I knew that they might be calling me back to let know if I had been accepted into the program. My heartbeat got faster as I thought of the chance that I might have been accepted, but I didnt want to get my hopes up as I had been rejected before by other programs. I quickly walked to the fixture room where I knew I would get some privacy, and picked up the call.
I WAS ACCEPTED TO GO ON THE WORLD RACE!!!!!!!
I freaked out! As I knew that going on the Race was an answer to my prayer about not only finding my way out of my dead end job for I had been passed over for a chance to become a team leader in electronics, and I was very salty about that (especially since the gal that took over as team lead had no experience in that area, and I had almost 4 years experience working electronics), but God had told me to wait 5 years before he would revel the next step in his plan for me & my life, and it turns out that the World Race was it. As soon as I got off the phone, I quickly texted my best friend the news, and she was thrilled for me as well, which made me feel even better. After I got off work, I drove home, and immediately told my parents, and they were also happy for me for they knew how much I wanted to travel the world, and now I had a chance to not only do that, but to do it with a purpose.
And so begun the journey of the World Race.

It’s crazy to see just what a difference a year makes.
So here I am, sitting in a coffee shop in the Valle De Angeles in Honduras writing this blog while sitting with a few of my fellow squadmates drinking a frozen chai on our post travel rest day after traveling on a bus from Belize to here for 35 hours.
Stay tuned for more to come
