Thanksgiving has officially passed. When I think of Thanksgiving I think about staying in a cabin in the middle of a cotton field with my family. I think about going to a small town in South Carolina where I catch up with what seems like over a hundred family members. These are the ones that you still have trouble remembering all the names because it seems like that side of the family grows each year. This is the time of year when I can’t stop thinking about how I am going to do whatever it takes to get a piece of Nana’s caramel cake and cheesecake. Each year this is what Thanksgiving has looked like for me since I can remember; except for this year. This is the first time I have ever been away from family on Thanksgiving. I’m not gonna lie I was pretty sad about missing out of my family’s version of Thanksgiving; however, the Lord has shown me that He’s given me so so many things here in Costa Rica to be thankful for.
- A group of strangers that have turned into family.
- Kind neighbors that are kind enough to invite all 50 of us to their house for thanksgiving.
- Times of hardship that the Lord used for good and turned into growth.
- Sisters that are willing to love me even when times get tough.
- A strong group of not only supporters but warriors back in the States.
- People here in Costa that’re willing to ask me the hard questions and encourage me to press into the difficult times.
- A woman at our ministry location that loves all the kids there just like she does her own, and is the one who we can always count on (she’s a rockstar).
- The opportunities to recognize the Lord in all the gorgeous creation that we are constantly surrounded by.
- An awesome woman that comes and cooks us the absolute best dinner you could possibly think of.
These are just a couple of things that the Lord has put in my life during this season of thankfulness.
