I can hardly believe this is happening!!! My first blog post!

Who am I? I am a 29 year old accountant living in Nashville, Tennessee. I am an ordinary girl born and raised in Pine Bluff, Arkansas who opened her heart and said to God “here I am, use me” and His overwhelming response has been “Trust me and GO!” Now I’m going around the world to show to others the extravagant outpouring of love that God has shown to me.

While I have tried to live a life of service I have never actually done mission work before. So, as much as I hope to help others discover and grow in their faith I know God is doing the same in me.

So what is the World Race and what have I learned already?

The World Race is a unique mission experience where I will travel to and live in 11 countries in 11 months, living out of a backpack and sleeping in a tent all the while changing the lives of people around the world. On my journey I’ll travel to countries in Central America, Asia, Europe, and Africa starting October 2018.

On this blog, I’ll be sharing my honest thoughts while I get ready for the trip and I’ll continue to keep you posted along the journey even after my departure.

Here it goes….This is what I’ve learned as I’m starting to prepare for this life changing adventure.

God is faithful.

I learned about the world race a year and a half ago! It was a 3 min video that rocked my world and changed my life forever. While I knew God was speaking to my heart, I couldn’t realistically see how the race was something I would ever really do. I would ask myself “who actually takes a year off from life to travel the world and help people?” The idea seemed like a fairytale and fairytales don’t happen to me. But I put the race on my vision board and prayed for the opportunity anyway. I believed it was possible, but at the same time I gave myself a back door in my faith because I didn’t really believe it would happen. But in the blink of an eye (actually more like 9 days) the world race went from this Hail Mary of a dream to reality.

When God places something on your heart DON’T IGNORE IT! Thousands of people have seen the exact same video I did but I’m know most of them were not affected like I was. After watching the video I was a sobbing mess inside the stall of my office bathroom!!! It moved me so deeply because in that moment God was speaking to me and calling me into who He wanted me to become. I am so grateful to have been a part of a ministry that taught me to not only pay attention to moments like that, but to also trust God to provide a plan and provision to bring it to pass. And so I did…and He has shown himself faithful.

This is the first thing that I learned. I will share the next thing in my next blog post.

By the way…….I’ve included that first video I ever watched about The World Race! Here it is: CLICK HERE I would love to know how it affects you. Comment below.
