Thanks God for your timing.
You knew who was going to be on my team way before I even knew about the World Race. You knew which countries I would be in, what ministry I would be involved with, and who would be leading me. Thanks for placing me in this community.
Thanks God for being you.
Im thankful for everything you have done in this day alone, and for just who you are. When I thank you, Im so glad that I don’t have to bring things up from my past that you’ve already forgiven me for, but I can simply just thank you for this day.
Thanks God for a bit of familiarity.
My team and I drew each others names, and whoever’s name we drew, we went out to buy them an outfit at the secondhand store. The only rule was that we couldn’t spend more than five dollars. Once we all ravaged through the piles, we took our purchases back to the compound to have a reveal party. If you know me you know that most of my closet is from The Goodwill. I love wearing old clothes that have been worn. I wonder who owned the pieces before me and what their life was like? God thank you for gifting me with something I love.
Thanks God for anniversaries.
I just saw a post on instagram about the route reveal webcast for the 2019 World Race Gap Year. This time last year, I remember being super stoked while watching the webcast. Right after it ended, they opened the application and I immediately started the process. How wild? A full year later and Im on the field!?
Thanks God for small acts of love.
The other day when my team was out shopping for groceries at the market, we were very disorganized, and I was frustrated. So instead of voicing my frustration, I just sat silently, and thought. A younger lady came up to a girl on my team and shook her hand. She walked away, and I looked back at her, and she stopped in front of me, shook my hand, and then hugged me with tears in her eyes. God thank you for this moment.
Thanks God for saying hard things through others.
This past Friday when we were at the market, Mr Sam, our driver asked those in the tuk tuk why we don’t go out on the streets and share the gospel like Joseph did. He said other teams before us have gone out, but we don’t very much. He whipped out his New Testament picture Bible and told us what was happening in each picture. He took us to his house and showed us his Bibles, and told us that his niece, who goes to Ezra, has been teaching him. Ezra is the place that hosts my squad, its a free school, and their main focus is to teach about God through teaching them English. We didn’t know what Mr Sams faith looked like, but WOW he challenged us to step up.
Month one is over. I’m thankful for my time here. I’m thankful that I got to serve my whole squad. I’m excited for what my ministry will be next month and even beyond. Thanks God.
