One of the beautiful parts of my World Race experience is that I’ve been able to work, teach, and play with at least one group of kids each month. I absolutely love children, especially when I get to share things that I love with them.

As you may remember, I recently graduated from university with a Bachelor’s of Music, Education. Simply, I’ve had a large amount of time musicing and participating in & leading classes. This month, as part of ministry, some of us have taken the opportunity to help at the daycare that YFC Botswana runs, in addition to the Apostolic Faith Mission. My favourite part of going to the day care the past couple weeks has definitely been listening to the children sing songs, recite Scripture, and to introduce the children to more songs.

As it is the end of the school year here in Botswana (summer officially starts next month), the daycare had their graduation ceremony for the children going to primary school next year. Part of the ceremony was presentations by both classes.

When I helped at the daycare, I always helped with the younger kids’ class. After going a few times, I felt like I knew the some of the children well enough to feel like a proud mother at the graduation, especially when the younger kids sang “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes.” For very few of the children to speak and understand English, they did a phenom job showing off all that they’d learned in a foreign tongue (the National language of Botswana is Setswana).

Like always, I’m really going to miss these kids at the end of the month. I’m going to miss trying to decipher what Scripture they’re yelling as they prepared for their graduation. I’m going to miss watching the younger children dance about as they sang a song with very simple lyrics:

I want to know
Yes, I want to know,
If you love the Lord.

Prayer Requests

  • That myself and the rest of my squadmates are fully funded by THIS FRIDAY,
  • Time and the desire to make more videos, and
  • Wifi to post videos & blogs, and to do other storytelling from the field.

Praise Reports:

  • Over $1000 has been donated in the past two weeks,
  • Kasey was blessed by the opportunity to teach children this past week at one of the schools that YFC partners with, and
  • I realized that I have been going to a church in an international school in a country I never planned on visiting (I was considering applying for an international teaching job instead of or after the Race, in Europe or Africa, and saw a listing for an opening for a music teacher in an international school in Gaborone, Botswana where we have been attending church).
