There’s nothing more awakening than being fully aware that life as you know it is over! My summer ended a few days and as replaced with World Race Launch. Launch is similar to Training Camp, in which Launch is a space to receive more training and information about what the World Race will look like and “activate” Racers into experiencing what Race life will actually look like. One way that Racers experience Race-life at Launch is by sitting to a $5 per day budget for food. All three meals for $5 or less per day. I can promise you this, it can be done but it is exceptionally hard in America.
There is validity in talking about my Launch experience, but there is also validity to tell you how my summer ended because it is important to me. So, I documented (poorly) my last 36 hours of summer in this video. Watch it, and then keep reading.
Did you watch? Did you watch all of it? It’s six and a half minutes long, and, honestly, you don’t have to watch all of it, you can listen! Okay, assuming you watched the video, I’m going to continue.
Simply, Launch was great. It was hard, emotional, challenging, and so encouraging. After Launch, I felt more ready for the World Race than when I left Ohio. The hours weren’t challenging on the body, but the content of each day and the hours & hours of having to be ~on~ were challenging. It was hard because I had to finally finish my goodbyes. I can usually say goodbye or see-ya-later without choking up, but saying goodbye to my family at different times was so hard! I hugged my youngest sister for about two minutes (we aren’t huggers). I experienced my dad’s calming peace for one last time on the drive to the airport and up until I entered the security line. I literally choked up in praying over my other sister and mother while praying over them and then laughed as they physically left my presence the day after. But, there’s nothing better than being in a room of fellow world-changers seeking the presence of God, our communal mission, and being poured into our squads’ leadership teams and other Adventures staff & volunteers.
Unfortunately, even the best things have to come to an end. Launch ended as soon as it started or at least that’s what it felt like. As my squad is traveling to the Dominican Republic as I type this, the Race is starting. Our grand adventure has begun and this is the point where we can choose to have our lives changed and help make a great change for the Kingdom. This is an end and a beginning with a great adventure on the other side.
Please pray for my squad as we travel the world and please follow my journey through my blog and my YouTube channel.
With love,
Angie Moore
