In my post entitled “Training Camp,” at the end in the Praise Reports section, I mentioned that I was raised up as a Storyteller Team Leader. Upon reflection, I gave y’all no context of what that is, means, and why in the world it should be characterized as praise report. So, here’s some context.
During the World Race, within my team setting (amongst the five other girls that I will be starting the Race with), I will be given regular access to the internet and required to post blogs and/or vlogs weekly as a way to share my story. In this position, I will also be encouraging my teammates to share their story.
You’re probably asking why I keep referring to “story.” It’s pretty simple actually; a story is anything and everything and nothing that one has experienced, learned from & about God, and anything else that one could share with others via their blog, vlog, newsletter, or whatever other means that they are communicating with their supporters. Simply, as a Storyteller, I am expected and required to tell people what I am experiencing while I am not in America and to encourage & help my teammates to do the same thing!
Okay, so why is this a praise report? Long story short: I’ve been praying for…awhile now to be given the opportunity to have a platform (of sorts) to share my story, as well as help others, share their stories. Don’t get me wrong, I have no formal training in telling or even sharing stories, but let’s be honest God clearly wants me to do this for at least the next year so (hopefully) my credentials don’t matter. If my credentials do matter, I have produced, filmed, and edited 10 original videos and posted them on YouTube channel since February; I have written countless blogs since September; and, I am proofing a friend’s novel draft. (I really love the art of communication, especially written, verbal communication, a.k.a. I really love reading, writing, and editing. So, if you need help editing, you know who to call!)
So, now you might be asking, how is this a story? I honestly wouldn’t classify this particular collection of words and thoughts to be a story. I’d classify it as a preface to a story because there has been a relative lack of action and/or drama (as far as my expectations lie). I’m traveling the world to tell stories! (I personally would be upset if this was the climax of the greater story.) This is a hero’s journey (of sorts) in the making, and I’m stoked to see what all of the journeys, tasks, challenges, and everything else that I will go through and beyond the next year. After this experience, I will be able to add “Storyteller” to my collection of trades.
If you’ve made it this far, congrats and thank you. If you want to see how my story continues to develop and how my storytelling improves, please subscribe to my blog (at the top of this page) and YouTube channel. Angie the Storyteller
