WOW WOW WOW. God is good. Here is some fun information because I leave in less than 2-1/2 months!
First, I want to thank you all for your patience with me wrapping up school – I haven’t written a blog in a couple of months and my thank-you notes were going out at a steady two a week. But thankfully, I have slightly more time (and I’ll have more after training camp) to be in touch with all of you more often! If you haven’t gotten a thank-you note from me, I APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH! Your note will be coming before I launch!
Second, I have a few updates:
- I am currently just over $2,000 away from being FULLY FUNDED for the World Race! I am in a constant state of humbled and amazed by that. You all have been the sweetest supporters, friends, encouragers, and partners in this ministry. I have been so affirmed that this is what God’s will is for me this year through His provision and your generosity.
- I leave for training camp in 12 days, which for me includes a storytellers workshop. That means I’ll learn how to use the camera I recently acquired to share my experiences with all of you and learn how to illustrate and talk about the people I am interacting with and cultures I am experiencing in an informative and respectful way. Training camp will be an amazing and difficult couple of weeks for me, my squad, and the three other squads that will be there, so please keep us in your prayers!
- Some of you saw that I was using the month of April to raise funds on behalf of two of my squamates. God continues to amaze me in that Tyler is now $1,500 over the first fundraising deadline of $5,000 and Cimone is approved to go to training camp and is just shy of the first goal! Thank you all for praying for these two specifically and for supporting them.
- I am officially vaccinated for Hep A, Typhoid, Yellow Fever, and Japanese Encephalitis, and I’ve got my Malaria meds coming soon. I’m also diligently taking my gummy multivitamins and probiotics, I promise. These mosquitos and water-borne illnesses got nothing on me (AKA God and the miracle of modern medicine) (probably)! If you could please continue praying for funding for my squamates who are trying to raise the money for their immunizations, I would be so very appreciative!
- I have almost all of my gear, which is so cool and so exciting! Send encouraging words to the poor souls who have to teach me how to set up my tent, please and thank you.
- I still have fun fundraisers happening! Adopt-A-Day is still going strong, so if you’re interested in supporting me for a day from August 3 of this year to July 1st of next, please let me know! Some final fundraisers will be coming to you mid-June.
- Last update (unrelated to the World Race): My mom just adopted a couple of precious baby kittens and I love them very much. I hope you enjoy this photo of them!
Third, you are amazing and I am so thankful for you. Thanks for following my journey!
