So most of you know that Creed 2 came out a little bit ago. And I have been dying to see it! Partially because I love the inclusion, and…partially because of Micheal B. Jordan’s BAWDY (body). So the other day, as I was allowing my mind to wonder, and the Lord brought some
Kingdom mindset to some not so Kingdom thoughts. #WontHeDoIt In this film, Micheal B. Jordan has to put on extra weight and train harder to be in top physical condition. He’s spoken in multiple interviews about his workout regimen and eating schedule. He’s mentioned getting in the gym and just like the first Creed, boxing “X” amount of hours regularly. And to be honest the hard work shows. Not just physically, but in his stance and boxing technique every time he enters the ring to simulate a match in both Creed 1 & 2.
As, these simulated matches came to mind, what the Lord began to remind me that we have battles that we fight daily that aren’t simulated, and the stance and functions we must take as a body to ensure that we have proper technique when we enter the ring are of the upmost importance.
“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
??Romans? ?12:4-5? ?NIV??
As I continued to think on the parallels, I began to consider what it means to throw a punch in a boxing match, when you assume the proper stance your legs are staggered and your weight is distributed so that your body can shift to avoid the opponent or enemy coming too close. In the body, we have some that are called to shift the position of the body, the direction we face and the way that we move. You, also, have the eyes without which we wouldn’t be able to see anything. You wouldn’t be able to see the punch coming or places left open for a jab or uppercut. In the body, we have the same thing, those who see, helping the rest of the body to know what’s to come.
There are so many more components that can be related, but the last one that came to mind is the arms. They stay bent awaiting the most opportune moment to defend or attack. And within the arms are the elbows. In this season, I feel like I am apart of the “elbowic” part of the body. The elbow is flexible, especially in time of attack and based on positioning, often used as a form of defense to protect the core body when under attack.
Every aspect of the body, plays a significant role, from the eyes to the elbows, every part has a unique function. And the beauty that comes together when they function is magnificent. When the eyes see the opening, the feet adjust, and the arms extend with the full weight of the body behind it, impacting the opponent, resulting in the K.O., glory and excitement fills the atmosphere, in both the boxing arena and the Kingdom! So, as we progress, in whatever function of the body we are, let us, come together in support of each other to continuously hit the enemy with the knock out punches of the Spirit, bringing God the glory in every circumstance and situation.
