Hey y’all! So the start of the trip was interesting, exciting but interesting nonetheless. (Please Note: I use the word interesting simply because this is an experience that I’ve NEVA-EVA had, or desired to have, in ALL my 29 years!) SO, we started the trip flying from Atlanta to New York. (Not so bad) Then we had a NINE, yes I said, 9 hour layover in New York, but honestly, the layover wasn’t bad either. The squad and I got to know each other, have deep conversations and bond! That part was awesome! BUT THEN, it started to storm and flights started to get delayed…And after SIX, yes 6 hours and a good portion of God’s Grace, we made it on the plane! We got locked and loaded and ready to go…AND WE MADE IT TO SPAIN! But, UNFORTUNATELY, after a 9 hr layover and a 6 hr flight delay we learned that we missed our ground transportation…ANNND we would be staying the night in the airport!! (The beautiful part is that in all of this…We all simply adjusted to whatever was thrown at us.
For Example:
Airline: Your flight is delayed until further notice.
Us: So what I’m hearing is that there’s time to nap…
After a six hour delay…
Airline: We don’t serve free meals on this flight.
Us: So what I’m hearing is that this is a divinely created opportunity to fast and grow closer to my Lord because man shall not live on bread alone.
Airline: Water isn’t free, unless accompanied by purchase.
Us: So what I’m hearing is that this is my opportunity to fully rely on the Living Water, so I shall thirst, no more!
Leadership: So due to the delays, we will stay the night in the airport.
Us: So what I’m hearing is…SLEEPOVER!!!!
Let us shout one time for the GRACE of God! #TakeALap)
SO…With a double portion of the Lord’s grace, we did as instructed and prepared to camp out.

Here are 5 things I learned from the process:
1.) Travel with an eye mask! (Full disclosure: I can’t wear these because they interfere with my survival instinct)
2.) Travel with ear plugs (Again…not me…#SurvivalInstinct)
3.) Always have a BLANKET (And a sleeping bag liner if you’re fancy!! Some of these airports are FREEZING!!)
4.) Travel with AMAZING people! (Survival Instinct: They can’t get all of us! Note: My sleeping pad is in the middle…I WILL NOT be the first to go!)
5.) Stay connected to The Father!! (This is self explanatory…We didn’t cruise through any of this by our own strength…this type of grace and acceptance comes from surrender and being down for whatever The Lord wants to do and take you through…)
Implement these 5 things and the next time you find yourself camping out in the airport you should rest like a baby! (Like these guys!)
