Follow
– a little poem about what I’m learning about leadership in the Kingdom-
Some of the best leaders follow.
They follow other leaders; other people of authority.
They understand their weak nature and humbly follow a guide; a teacher.
They follow Jesus.
They recognize their influence and seek to lead well.
They understand the power of their voice and seek to always build up the body.
They present themselves in a humble way, submitting to people around them.
They actively choose to die to their flesh every day.
They realize leading isn’t in their own power; it’s in the Father.
Leaders don’t always lead by standing in front.
They often follow behind their flock, gathering things dropped or misplaced.
They help reign in those that go astray.
They present themselves to the world serving God and God alone.
As they walk closer to the Father, people begin to follow; they begin to want what they see.
With full dependence on God, leaders follow.
