“In a New York Minute, everything can change.”
GUYS! I have some exciting news to share with y’all! Not everything is changing, but something is..
I got an email yesterday in which I was informed that I had a slight route change for the World Race. In Month 4, we were supposed to be traveling to do ministry in El Salvador. Instead, due to certain circumstances and ministry opportunities, we will now be serving in Honduras!
This may not seem like a big deal, but it’s just one more God moment for me. As some of you know, I’ve been to Honduras for two consecutive summers. My heart has grown and become attached to the country and it’s people, especially my little brothers at the orphanage, Senderos de Amor. I was absolutely heartbroken that this year, I wouldn’t be going back. Don’t get me wrong, the World Race will be incredible and life changing, but somehow I was still devastated about having to miss out on going back to a place that holds so much room in my heart. God continues to show up and show out in the most precious and daring ways. In ways that are not only unexpected, but deeply meaningful. As if God doesn’t show up in those ways, right? I keep seeing why I need to expect the unexpected, why I need to continue drawing near to God in anticipation of huge, crazy, and God-sized miracles. It’s just such a reminder of how intimately God knows me, and how widely He loves me. I never even asked Him to go to Honduras, He just knew my heart was melancholy over missing out on going there this year, as amazing as El Salvador would’ve been. Yet, in the middle of my self pity and disappointment, He flips things around and once again proves what He doesn’t have to prove: that He knows me better than I know myself, that He delights in answering the desires of my heart, that He not only hears my thoughts but pays attention to every minute detail about me, about my heart and about what I feel and what I love.
He is such an undeniably incredible, passionately-in-love-with-me, detail oriented God, and I think it’s easy for us to forget how closely He watches and listens to us. It’s easy to forget just how much He wants to fulfill our heart’s desires, and it’s easy to assume that He is just involved in the big stuff.
But oh no, my dear friends.. He sees, knows and hears what you even think to just yourself. He treasures us and loves us so WELL, so fully, that He pays attention to even our smallest dreams.
What we deem insignificant, He sees as worthy, and worth His time.
How He loves us.
Praying that you see His goodness always,
Alyssa
