Where do I begin.
My month in Guatemala has been my favorite on The Race. The people, the ministry, the beautiful landscape, the 15 cent avocados, there really wasn’t much to dislike let’s be real. I had the privilege of meeting some incredible people this month that I am so excited to have lifelong relationships with. Our host Gail, the people working within her ministry of preparing an orphanage for children, Pamela and Sheldon, and Jerry. Pamela and Sheldon are originally from Calgary, AB Canada and they were seriously the best people to have this month. God places people in our lives at the most perfect timing. They made me feel like I was family, their accents somewhat similar to my Minnesotan one which was so comforting alone. Pamela made THE BEST home cooked meals, from pasta carbonara to fish tilapia tacos. Oh and I couldn’t forget her homemade cinnamon buns.
Pam and Sheldon sailed here from Texas on their sailboat. They sold their house, everything they had and came to Guatemala to do mission work. Sounds pretty crazy right? They did it because they knew that’s what God was calling them to do. They just got up and left all comfortability. They’ve poured into us and spoken so much truth into our lives, and they have an incredible daughter Olivia who was also with us for awhile before she left to go to do mission work herself in Hawaii through YWAM. I already cannot wait to see them again.
Leaving our little orphanage this morning was really sad but it was so great knowing with confidence that I’ll be back again. This ministry & the people involved touched my heart in ways I’ve never felt before. Most months I’m looking forward to the next country we are about to go to but this time, not so much. Don’t get me wrong when I say this, I’ve loved so many things about my other months. But I don’t have that strong excitement for change this time around. I really wouldn’t mind just staying here til the rest of my Race honestly. But I can confidently say that I will be back and that will just have to do for now.
Agua Azul, Guatemala, see you again.
Goodbye month 9 & hellllloooo El Salvador!
