Month 2 Update!
My squad and I are in Sunyani, Ghana from Feb 19-Mar 13 and will then be headed to Asia next! Month 1 was spent with my team of 6, as that is what most months on the World Race will look like. This month, however, is all squad month! This means that our entire group of 36 is all under one roof sharing the love of Jesus together. I have loved all being together so far, it has given us the opportunity to get to know one another on a deeper level and share our stories and experiences from month 1 in Cote d’Ivoire. Even more importantly, it allows us to grow deeper in our relationship with the Lord together! We have all 5 of our squad leaders to encourage and lift us up, as well as our squad mentor Alissa here this month! The squad leaders are with us the first 5 months of our journey, and Alissa is only here during all squad month so it truly is a very special gift to have this time together this month.
So this month is quite a luxurious living situation compared to last month. I loved every bit of last month, don’t get me wrong. But when we arrived at our hostel for our month here in Ghana and we have air-conditioned rooms, flushing toilets, and a shower head I can’t lie I was quite ecstatic. Not having these things for just one month has made me so grateful for when I now do get them. And I’ve only seen one cockroach in the bathroom, a huge improvement from last month! Let’s just say that beetles are not one of my favorite things. Trying very hard to get used to them though.
We are partnering with a church here called Elim City, and it is BEAUTIFUL. The Lord has blessed them tremendously, it is very large and such a warm and welcoming community. They have had World Racers before, so they were very organized and gave us a schedule right away when we arrived last week. Although it is all squad month, we still will be doing our ministry together as a team. So far this month, we have been going and evangelizing on the streets of Sunyani. We have attended church and helped with worship, children’s bible study, and ushering. They also are in need of volunteers for their media department, and they asked for help with photography so I am pumped the Lord is letting me use my talents to help out the church in that area this month! I am very excited to see all of the big things He’s got in store for us this month.
Blessings,
Adriana
