This week I took a look back at all my pictures and picked out a few to give you a look into some of my favorite memories and people from the Race. Enjoy!

Elva–Mi amor.  She was the cook for my squad and I during month one in the Dominican Republic.  She only spoke Spanish so I could only stumble through a conversation with her, but somehow we managed to hit it off.  She is one of the funniest people I have ever met and I consider her my long lost Latina grandma. I hope to see her again someday.

Miguel & Alfred–A lot of time was spent at a local basketball court just down the road from our ministry site in the Dominican Republic.  Miguel and Alfred were two of the local kids who were always there playing.  We struggled to communicate but never failed to have fun playing basketball, something all three of us were passionate about.

Metushala–She was a little 3-month-old baby that we got to meet in an orphanage in Haiti during month two.  Seeing the orphans living in such poverty was hard but the joy which they possessed was life-changing.  Five months in, this is my favorite experience on the Race so far. You can read more about it in this blog: Gifts From “The Broken”

This was a super special morning in Haiti. We spent the entire morning at one house, half of us helping the woman with laundry and the other half playing with all the kiddos running around.

The P Sisters: Primrose, Precious, and Prudence–We lived in the same village as these three sister during months three and four in Botswana. By the end of our time there, they would wait for us outside our house under a tree almost every day and would walk around the community with us as we spread the word about our events at the local cafe. Some of my favorite moments in Botswana include watching Prudence show off her groovy dance moves.

Victoria Falls–Towards the end of our month in Botswana, we took a not so comfortable overnight bus to Livingstone, Zambia.  The Falls and all the memories made there were definitely worth the bus ride even if I did end up with blisters on my butt.
