Hi friends,
I have an exciting opportunity out here on the field. My team has the opportunity to do trekking ministry. We will be hiking near the base of the Himalayans for 5 days and 4 nights. It is an interesting opportunity and one I was a little hesitant about at first. After doing ministry last night though in this city God changed my heart. The hikers here are searching for something. Nature is an amazing display of God’s glory and majestic qualities but it also can leave you looking for the next “high.” I’m no Everest climber but even doing life in my beautiful mountain state I know the wonder of standing high and taking in pure beauty. Nature is incredible.
But as one of our leaders pointed out as he was getting ready to leave the race, we have something the hikers are seeking “Being here again (in Nepal) I am reminded of how different WR is. Most backpackers arrive to a country seeking, ready to consume and conquer and experiment and take it all in. Yet we don’t find refuge in the world but from it. We love creation because of the creator. We don’t have holes that need filling because we’ve been made whole and we don’t travel to take but to give, to offer the thing they’re all searching for.” I loved hearing this and it gave me perspective for this month here in Nepal.
People are hungry for truth and peace and though nature can provide a refuge it can’t fill the hole. God is the source of it all and without him people will just keep seeking. Seeking after the next thrill, beautiful place or fun adventure. I’m excited for the opportunity to share my peace and joy with them and give the glory to the creator and not the creation I am so excited for this opportunity. We will be going Tuesday through Sunday of this coming week. It will be 50 dollars a day so total 250 USD. That covers everything from food, permits, guide, housing, transportation to and from the trails.
