I’ve been off the field for just over three months now and that reminds me of my favorite experience on the World Race. It deals with a man I met in Morocco during my last month of the trip and an amazing thing God did in him.

When I first arrived in Morocco, my ministry host introduced me to a guy who was agnostic, had a Muslim upbringing, and was interested in learning more about Jesus. I ended up getting tea with him at a cafe a couple of times a week and we would discuss the Bible, the Quran, and life.

On the first day that we got tea, he told me about a dream he had of Jesus wearing all white. He said nothing and eventually turned around and began to walk away in this dream. My new friend was very curious about this experience and wanted to know if Jesus was God according to scripture. We would open the Bible to different passages where Jesus made it explicitly clear to the Jewish people that he was claiming deity to them and how that resulted in him being accused of blasphemy, leading to crucifixion.

My new friend thanked me because I was the first person to answer his questions the way that I did and then he asked me if Jesus really did die. The Quran teaches that Jesus was a prophet (not God) and that he never died but rather was taken up into heaven like Enoch or Elijah. This is always a tough conversation to have because I never want to give an opinion forcefully or start an argument. I think that most people around the world are looking for truth. I just want to present what I believe is truth and why I believe it. So, I showed him more areas in the Bible that explained Jesus’ death and why he died. The conversations we had ended well and my friend left our meetings thinking hard about this subject.

One of the last nights that I was in Morocco, my friend took me out to get dinner and told me about a second dream he had with Jesus in it. He said that Jesus was dying on a cross. What?! How incredible! He asked me “brother, what does this dream mean?” I was excited to tell him! lol

I left Morocco, and the rest of my incredible 11 month journey, excited and encouraged to have witnessed God doing such an incredible thing in someones life across the world. I was so grateful to have been a part of it.

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I got a call from my Moroccan friend in January after I had been home for a month. We caught up on life and how we missed each other and then he told me about a third dream he had…with Jesus in it…I was awe struck! Jesus was wearing all white in this dream (like in the others) and dipped water in a cup, gave it to my friend, and told him to drink and clean himself. My friend told me he is a Christian now and follows Jesus. I was so pumped! It took me a couple of weeks to use my brain and ask him if he had been baptized yet and I believe he eventually will be. Please be praying for him and others in Morocco that they would experience the Love and Truth of Jesus in ways like this!

This will be my final World Race blog because it’s the very reason I had gone on the Race and it’s the very thing I want to go after for the rest of my time here on earth: Helping others be reconciled to God through Jesus. That will be stateside for me for the next season of my life (however long it may be) but Morocco and many other countries I went to are on my heart and I will be back, Lord willing!
