Namiste friends,
Thank you for tuning in again. Grace and peace be with you.
Through this blog I would like to give an overview of our time in the beautiful country of Nepal. We began our time here by congregating as a squad at a hostel in Kathmandu (the capital city of Nepal).
Unfortunately the first week was geared towards working on our Chinese visa applications and waiting for those to be processed. Thanks be to God; all of our visas were accepted and we are now set to leave for China on Sunday June 10th.
Within that time we also received our new teams and began pressing into some ministry opportunities that were available within the city. We had the opportunity to serve breakfast at a homeless shelter, teach at small church gatherings, and minister to many locals and backpackers that God would place before us.
On two occasions I was able to go and visit local families at their homes and bless them through word and prayer. It was a very humbling experience seeing how much joy they had with such little possessions. Both of these connections were made through taking time to chat with the street vendors that are constantly looking to make a few rupees.
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me. Matt 25:40
Nepal is known to be one of the most spiritual countries in the world. Being predominantly Hindu and Buddhist, many soul searchers will wander through here looking for answers and various ways to feed their spirits.
On multiple occasions, I encountered a man that was using evil spirits to heal people on the streets. He claimed to be from a different galaxy, he claimed to speak with snakes, and he claimed that people are reptiles. He was very intrigued by the power that is in me (Christ in me) and tried to recruit me to join his mission. I rebuked him and warned the people that they were being led astray by his voodoo. He reminds me of Simon the sorcerer, a character found in Acts 8: 9-25
The worship of idols and sacrifices being made at temples is very common and can be found at every shop and street corner. Many people exchange the glory of the living God for false gods and statues made by man. This leads to much spiritual oppression and bondage to these deceiving spirits. The spiritual atmosphere can be heavy at times and felt in different ways. We are constantly on our guard and praying against oppression from the enemy. Thanks be to God that we have victory over all the power of the enemy through faith in Christ. We just need to pick up “our sword” and fight.
For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Romans 1:21?-?23
“‘I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “‘You shall have no other gods before me. “‘You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. You shall not bow down to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Deuteronomy 5: 6-9
After 10 days in Kathmandu and a 3 day trekking adventure, we headed to the mountains to partner with a ministry connection that was made in Kathmandu. We were blessed to experience what it was like to live in the foothills of the himalayas and be a part of the small church community that was planted there.
Through that experience we got to live without hydro/electric, poop in the woods, fetch water from a mile away, enjoy beautiful mountain views, encourage/teach local believers, and share our testimonies with new team mates. Overall an amazing week. Unfortunately our time there was limited but I can definitely see myself being back there someday (God willing).
We had to be back in Kathmandu for another squad debrief and training/preparation for China. We are currently back at the same area that we were staying at the beginning of the month. Thankfully this allows us to build into the relationships that were already established in this area.
I will be setting a password on my blog site during our time in China due to security reasons. The password will be: soldierofchrist. I hope to update you all with many stories and videos after returning from that unreached area of the world.
Please visit my other two blogs for pictures and testimonies of Gods work in Nepal.
Your prayers and support are greatly appreciated. Grace and peace be with you all in Christ.
