Halo teman,
Nama saya Tristan. Saya dua puluh dua. Saya dari Canada. Saya dari Christiani.
Hello friends,
My name is Tristan. I am 22. I am from Canada. I am a Christian.
That is currently the extent of my Bahasa vocabulary.
Being in a country that speaks a different language can make things challenging. Thankfully Jesus desires to make himself known to every tribe, and nation and will make straight paths for those who desire to build His kingdom here on earth. What I mean by that is that God is bigger than language and will make ways for His glory to be revealed when we walk in obedience to the words that He has spoken.
Here are three ways to overcome the language barrier.
1. Google translate
2. Body language
3. Walking in power and love
Those are just a few of the many ways the language barrier can be overcome in Indonesia, but honestly, we’ve been able to have the majority of our conversations in English throughout our stay here. #praisetheLord
Our host family at Jagat Arsy boarding school have been phenomenal and we’ve been able to connect with them and the students in many ways. We’ve had a few opportunities to talk culture and teach English in the classrooms, but the majority of our time here is geared towards recreation and connecting on a relational level e.g soccer, basketball, Zumba, birthday parties, dance parties, small talk, and more.
Check out the pictures and videos below to have a glimpse of our time at Jagat Arsy Boarding School.
Thanks again for tuning in. You are a valuable asset to this adventure.
“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
