Finding myself in Serbia is very different than I ever anticipated. When I would hear someone say “Serbia” I had the image in my head of rolling hills with snow covered Castles, tucked back into the woods of eastern Europe. In some ways its very close to what I had imagined and yet nothing like I imagined. We haven’t found castles, or dragons, but where we reside is surrounded by a good amount of trees and some snow. It is almost better than I had imagined, like a quaint little town out in the country side. You know one of those little towns that you read about in a novel. A novel where the author is so specific and detailed it’s almost impossible not to be able to imagine the scene.

Having good imagery in a story is imperative to capture the attention of the reader. (At least I think so and I enjoy it) However, I do believe many people would agree with the ingredients of a great book, good imagery, a captivating plot, and characters we can relate with or want to relate with. Good books hold our attention and make us feel like we are actually in the story. Authors make us feel what the characters are feeling, seeing, and experiencing. The author or story teller is bringing you into their characters reality and helping us forget our reality as an escape.

In a way isn’t this what we as humans are looking for? An escape from reality? A good long story to entertain us in our dull meaningless life? In the era we live in, I find myself wondering and daydreaming of something greater, something more meaningful, and something worth fighting for. In a era where so much can be answered by science, an era where there isn’t much to discover; so we have to find new ways to rediscover what we‘ve already discovered. It’s makes me wonder about our story teller.

The one behind the scenes writing our lives into existence. Re reading our previous chapters and wondering how he can help the characters grow into a stronger better version in the following chapters. As if we are just characters in a really good metafiction book of our own; or maybe it’s a really bad story, a sad story, or a story of romance and redemption. Keep writing your story because it matters.

In my head I think our life stories are metafiction stories because we know there is an author or creator to our lives. We question the author, we try to write our own stories, or in some cases; people try to end their stories to early. Which is sad because the author truly wants the best story for each and every one of us. Why wouldn’t the author want the best for the characters?

It my opinion, God is our author and when we go against what he is trying to help write, then we just end up with a blob of words, a garbage bag of messy situations, or an unclear reason to why our stories are the way they are. I believe God likes a great story and this is why he wants us to have a great story. It’s up to us to allow the author to help us write the most beautiful story we possibly can, but we have to follow his pen strokes and just trust he is going to to write something so beautiful, that we cannot imagine it for ourselves. It’s okay not to know everything we think we need to know.

Romans 8:28

28 And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Until next time………..
