Forty-eight hours. That’s it until I venture into the unknown for the next 330 days. I listen to the clock, embracing these last moments in silence with my Jesus. Basking in the truth of all He is, and who He has called me to be. Reader, I am simply a messenger. Just like you, wishing only to be used for the very purpose I was created for—to tell His people “..how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is..” (Ephesians 3:18)

I was allowed the absolute privilege to spend the past couple weeks serving along side my parents ministry in the Bahamas. And through that time, I experienced the tangible love of Christ, gracefully poured out not only on me but to those I was ministering to. American and Bahamian—two cultures effortlessly combining through the love of Christ. You see—love crosses all boarders, cultural differences, language barriers, and beyond. His love feeds the hungry, listens to the broken-hearted, serves the local church, prays for healing over the sick, and plays basketball with the locals. Looking into these faces, I saw a desire for love, affection, and fulfillment. I was reminded that I walk with the very One who gives fulfillment, life, and purpose. The Lord has set my heart ablaze to speak and act on those truths with every culture I enter for the next eleven months and my life thereafter.

Though not all of us are called to the same field, our mission never varies; to love the Lord, love others, and make disciples. It’s not hard. Because following Jesus unlocks His overwhelming, never-ending, and reckless love. Once it’s tasted, we too, cannot rest without pursuing others through this love that has been faithfully entrusted to us.

Encountering Jesus switches the very course of one’s life. He’s contagious. He’s passion. He’s the very essence of life itself. And as I step onto that plane on January 14, I’m recklessly abandoned to the mission He has set before me. I would encourage you, reader, to press into Ephesians 3:16-21. Believe it. And could I be so bold to ask? Pray that over my squad and I, the organizations we partner with, and the souls we encounter this year, that His divine Presence would be made known in our every interaction.

Give this a listen, it’ll change your life:
