We took a few long bus rides while in Cote d’Ivoire, and we stopped a couple of times for “bathroom breaks.” Bathroom breaks in different countries tends to mean that you pull over, drop your drawers, and do your business right there. As I had to pee on our first stop, I realized that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing some pretty neat places around the world because of having to pee on the sides of roads. However, there are some interesting and less-neat places I’ve relieved myself as well. Thus begins my monthly blog of my bathroom experiences. Enjoy!
The luxurious “public restroom” at the truck stop we were evangelizing at in Bouake, Cote d’Ivoire.
Another public restroom in which you clean out with beautifully crafted teapots after you make your mess.
This stop on the way to Abidjan from San Pedro, Cote d’Ivoire, reminded Christa and I of autumn back home in MN and WI. We decided to explore it a little, but to our dismay, Christa stepped in human feces. We just died laughing in the forest trying to clean her poor shoe, and the bus driver impatiently honked his horn at us to get back on. Luckily we made it back in the knick of time. Yes, sometimes, we are still “those Americans.”
Stay tuned for next month’s potty adventures in Ghana!
