“You have one minute to wake up before I start hollerin”
After ten days in the blazing heat, absurd humidity, and being woken up by blaring country music, I can proudly say I survived training camp.
This past week has been one of the most fun camps I’ve ever been to and definitely the most meaningful. I’ve made new friends with people I’d never imagined id be close to. I’ve made animal sounds that no one expected to hear, I’ve grown in my faith and felt the power of the Lord, and I’ve made an impact on the people I’ve come into contact with. Being at home after training camp really makes you miss the people that you just met but are gonna spend the next nine months with. Julia, Spencer, Sammie, Becca, Sarah, and Donte are my new family and I miss them everyday no matter how many snapchats I get a day from all of them.
Training camp taught me a few things as well. It taught me that not all showers come from a shower head or are warm for that matter. It taught me that no matter how different a group of people are, they can come together when they share something so powerful as the Lord. It taught me that my stomach really can adjust to smaller portions for meals and yes you will survive with minimal snacks. It taught me that being a missionary isnt about me and you, it’s about me spreading the lord and letting him do the work. It taught me that missional living, intimacy with God, and community will set me, my team, and my squad up for success over the next nine months.
I thank the Lord for my family from blood and my family through him.
