Nepal is beautiful. When our plane landed I could not help but smile as I saw the beautiful mountain ranges. Stepping off of the plane feeling the cool brisk air made my heart happy. Seeing the smiles on the Nepalese people made me fall in love with Nepal quickly. But something hurt my heart also; the fact that Nepal is a closed country. This means that it is illegal to share your faith publicly. Nepal is made up of 275 people groups; 266 of those groups are considered unreached. This means that 96.7% of Nepalese people have never heard the gospel. And we get the opportunity to share it with them.
This month is ATL (Ask The Lord), which means we do not have set hosts for the month, and our team will go where the Lord leads. So far we have been guided through the streets of Kathmandu speaking to people as they approach us asking where we are from. Side story: I had a 16 year old kid approach me this morning just wanting to hang out with me, so we went to a coffee shop and he sat with me for just a few minutes. He explained that today is his holy day and that he was Hindu. I explained that I was a Christian and he could not believe it. He said, “typically when I tell Christians that I am a Hindu, they tell me to go away.” Just let that sink in…
My team, Team Legacy, has a wonderful opportunity that we feel God is providing for us to go and do a 10 day trek through the Tsum Valley Region. The Tsum Valley is a sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in northern Gorkha, Nepal. This valley is comprised of two remote villages called Chumchet and Chhekampar. The local people in this area are mostly of the Tibetan origin and speak a unique dialect. Most of the people in this area are Buddhist. Due to the Tsum Valley’s remoteness and inaccessibility, this sacred valley and its people have been bypassed by mainstream development for centuries. As a result, the unique culture of this valley has remained intact. As Team Legacy, we believe that God has both placed us here and given us a heart for this area for a reason. Our desire is to leave a legacy here in Nepal, with these people groups, that points to the love of Jesus.
We want to be able to reach these people to share the love that Christ has for them, but we need your help. This journey is not funded through our initial cost. If you would like to contribute to us financially, you do do so by going to the following link:
