I hear You telling me the truth, but I don’t listen.
I hear You telling me to go speak truth to that person, but I just ignore it.
I hear You speaking peace into me, but I choose the lies instead.
I hear You telling me the victory is mine, but I am throwing my pity party in the victim mindset.
These are the truths of the flesh. It is what we do not want to admit, but still haunt us daily. What entices us to ignore the God who is truth, love, and peace? The God that created us. The One who knows us the most. Do you ask yourself that question? Why do we not listen?
Ephesians 6:12 lays out the answer perfectly. The battle we face daily is not between flesh and blood, but of the spiritual forces on earth, and in the heavenly realms. It is things we cannot see, but are very truly happening.
Isaiah 54:17 tells us that no weapon formed against us shall prosper. One of the most harmful weapons satan uses against us is words. Lies and deceit is all it is. We listen to it because it hits home. Satan watches us daily, he listens to us, and then whispers lies into our ears that are so easy to believe. What I have noticed is that people do not have the answer as to how to get away from this, even for a small period of time.
James 4:7 tells us that if we submit ourselves to God, REBUKE the devil, and he will flee from you. Ever heard the term, “fight fire with fire?”. Use words (God’s truth) against satan when he sends those lies into your mind. When you step into an intimate relationship with God, you begin to learn how to distinguish God’s voice from the voice of the enemy. When you hear that evil voice, you know that through God’s word, we are able to seek God, rebuke the devil, and he will FLEE.
THIS, is when you begin to listen to the voice of God more intently. When He tells you something, you understand it is from Him, rebuke the devil, and follow hard after what God wants.
The reason I am writing this is because this is what I have just walked through. Speaking truth audibly. God gives us dominion over this world. When we speak truth in His name, it is done.
So, as weird as this may seem, whether you are at work, in school, in a meeting, at church, whatever, I want you to verbally speak this proclamation.
“In Jesus’ name, I rebuke the devil from me. All of the lies that he has fed me, be gone in the name of Jesus. Whatever evil spirit is attached to me, be gone in the name of Jesus. For I am a child of God!”
Walk freely knowing that God gives us a charge of authority over this lost and dying world. We have the power THROUGH Him to change it. What are you doing to further His kingdom?
Boldly,
Preston
