While I was in Georgia, I remember hearing a quote from one of my fellow squad-mates that has been jumbling around in my head for a while now:

“Every breath is devoted to something”

So simple, yet so profound. Every breath is devoted to something. Devoted to speaking truth. Devoted to gossip. Devoted to singing. Devoted to silence. Devoted to stress. Devoted to exercise. devoted to self-glorification. Devoted to giving compliments.—

I just love the idea that every breath we take has a purpose. I just think…how blessed are we to wake up with breath in our lungs every morning?! God doesn’t have to give us life- but He does anyways!!! And we get to decide what we are going to do with it.

With something as simple as breathing, we have the chance to glorify God! To breathe in and speak out positive words. To breathe deeply you’re when mad instead of bursting out in anger. To breathe in and sing praise to God. Or even something as simple as breathing in and thanking God for giving you life today.

For me, today’s breath is devoted to gratitude. Gratitude for quiet Sunday afternoons with my sister. For food to fill me up. For time to rest in the silence. Man, God knows me. These things speak to my soul. HE speaks to my soul.
