It’s sad that Month 2 is over. This month has flown so fast. Here is how I joined Jesus on HIS mission this month.
Street Ministry—This month was all squad month, meaning our whole squad was together. All 35 of us. We partnered with Elim City Church. Each team was assigned a community in the city. Each day we would go out to that community, walk the area, and talk to those who we encounter. It was all about forming relationships. 90% of Ghana is Christian, so our goal for the month was to outreach to these Christians, encourage them in their faith, and invite them to church and discipleship classes. Some groups helped with laundry, had mango (lemonade) stands, raised money and helped build a restaurant, and hung out at schools. Our group formed a few tight relationships with people in the community. Steven and Ann are the two we hung out with every day. A brother and sister, who love each other so much, but won’t admit it, and would rather tease each other (sound familiar, Mom??). We shared stories with them, prayed for them, and even encouraged them to pray for each other, which they did.
One day our team teamed up with another team, and talk PE class at a International School. We taught basketball, football (soccer) played duck duck goose, relay races, and even yoga. I walked around a took pictures and hung out with a group of four 4th graders. As they were doing my hair about 20 some kids came around as well. It was a great opportunity to share Bible stories, and I even encouraged a few to share some with me. They loved doing that. One girl Clarice invited me to join her for Christmas dinner with her this year.
On Ghana’s independence day our whole squad met with a dozen or so men from the church. They took us to their property that they purchased, and we built a good chunk of fence for them. Since they are not occupying the land yet, people have been taking it and building on it. The church’s goal with this land is to build a Children’s hospital and continue to build their church.
God is doing amazing things in Elim City. They are growing more and more every day. Jesus is seen in each and every individual and Pastor in the church. Please keep them in their prayers as they continue to live out God’s mission for them.
We are officially in Cambodia. This month the men are doing Manistry, so it is just us girls and two squad leaders. We will be teaching English at a Christian school in Siem Reap.
