We are currently in the middle of Parent Vision Trip- a week where parents come and join us as we share with them what it is like to be on the Race. Our squad is fortunate because normally for this week racers whose parents are here would typically go off to a different location than those whose parents cannot attend whereas we get to all be together learning from the inter-generational wisdom provided by the merge.

I have to say I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the parents and being here in their midst. This week is full of emotions for everyone but I get to sit back and observe all the cool things G-d is doing in and through each person.

I know this week is far from over but already there have been some tender moments that have touched me:

1) One of my Dauntless team members back at the beginning of the race was sharing with us his heart for a tattoo design. He then got said tattoo in India. When parents showed up this week, I noticed his dad had the same tattoo. I was able to witness the impact a son had on his father and how the whole family was able to come around on such a previously discussed topic of tattoos in a way that not only brings them closer together but glorifies G-d in the process.

2) Other parents loving on me as if I was their kid. Today I went out to lunch with a squadmate and her parents. They wouldn’t let me pay for my meal. They and others have provided some of the greatest conversations, hugs, prayers, etc. to where it lessens the emotional toil of not having parents here.

3) Seeing racers lead their parents in different opportunities for sharing the gospel while also seeing parents learn to break through comfort zones in letting their children lead as well as leading in new ways themselves.

4) Watching parents step into their spiritual giftings outside of normal everyday American life and getting a taste of what our year has been.

5) Rejoicing in what an encouragement this is for me and my fellow squadmates as we gear up for the final three months. This week is only the beginning for them as they work on creating healthier relationships with their parents and learn how to incorporate all the changes G-d has done in their life with the life they left behind.

I know G-d is moving in all of our lives- the racers, the parents here, and the parents at home. My prayer is for us to continue diving deeper into the things G-d has for us. Prepare our hearts for the conversations we are having with one another and show us your glory Lord.
