So I am officially in Zambia. Since my last blog there has been a lot that had happened. I have been growing in my faith and in feeling what God is doing in and through me. Two weeks ago while at Fathers Family, (the village in the dump), I had the opportunity to speak to about ten men on what it meant to be a Christian. The Chief had actually gotten them to stop working so they could listen to what I had to say. Now as I was speaking I was noticing how intently they were listening. It was an honor to have that many older men listen and value what I had to say. Now there was one man who didn’t stop working but stayed close so he could listen. As I brought it to a close and prayed us out, I noticed the man stop working; grab at his heart and pray with me. I believe in my heart that that man had gotten saved that day. The following week we went back and I was going to walk around more when I had found out that a man had passed away the Thursday after we were there, we were there on Tuesday. I had a sinking feeling in my heart and asked who it was and as they described what he was wearing, I knew it was the man who never stopped working. And that sadness turned to joy because I knew it was gods timing that I was there two days before his passing.
That was my first experience of god using me in his timing.
My last few days in Zimbabwe we went to a school and each of us spoke to a different class of seventh graders about rejection, living as a Christian through High-school or how to deal with bullying. And my class was awesome! They listened and we’re ready to ask questions on topics I was sharing about because they wanted to know more about me or how I dealt with situations.
Tamara and I both had the opportunity to do street evangelism for the day. So we went to the market because we knew there would be plenty of people there. I got to talk to a woman there who was selling some shoes and clothing. She had some serious issues with her mother and didn’t know about Christ. So I shared with her for about half a hour just to show her what Christ love is. She ended up accepting him but instead of having her repeat after me. I decided to ask her to pray what was in her heart, and it was more powerful than if I had led it. Tam than came over and shared more love and comfort before we began walking around and we both spoke to a group of people who weren’t really listening so we thanked them for letting us share. But as we were walking away, a man chased us down and asked us to stop for a second. Of course we stopped but were confused as to why this man had chased us. But to our unbelief, he told us that he had overheard us talking to the group as he was walking by and he wanted to know more. So Tam and I both got excited so we all sat down on the curb and tam and I both “tag-teamed” sharing what being a Christian was about and what it meant. We were there for quite a bit. Afterwards tam and I both prayed over him and he then prayed for himself and we parted ways. He seemed much more happy then. Monday was just an awesome day.
Then we went to a soccer club for the last time to play with the kids, and by kids I mean 13 to 18 years old. And I fell a couple of times of course. But I ended up scoring a goal which was pretty cool. After the game we had the opportunity to say goodbye and most of all thank you for letting us join them. The past two days have been full of goodbyes. But it’s been a lot of fun. And I’m looking forward to what is coming this next month in Zambia.
