Well, I’ve been in Cambodia for a couple of weeks now. Part of my ministry here is going into a trauma hospital and playing with patients and their care givers, as well as making cards and paper to sell to make money for the program for the hospital. At this hospital is where I met a little boy. I’m still unaware of his name is, but something happened and he broke his femur. He is also non-verbal; I’m unsure if he was born that way or what caused this. All I know is I was playing with him at his bedside for 3 hours yesterday and I’ve never in my life seen such a joyful smile and heard such a contagious laugh. In that very moment it was then I realized it’s all about our perspective. He chooses to laugh, play games, and smile even though he has been in this hospital for weeks, he chooses joy. Yes, I’m sure playing games with him helps with the smiles and laughs. This specific day we went through 5 games. Every time I turned the corner with a new game his face would light up all over again. Every time the blocks fell over his head would fall back in laughter. This was such a great tangible example of the fact that actions really do speak much louder then words.
Through this little boy the Lord taught me excitement, joy, and eagerness. The excitement of what the Father has in store, the joy of being able to stand by the Father in the simple and difficult things. To eagerly await for the Father’s return. As this little boy has spoken so much to my life through his joy and actions I know the Lord is using me to show Him the Father’s love.
