Welcome to my life here smack in the middle of the big city, Chiang Mai!
I live in a beautiful place called Zion Hostel. Downstairs is a decadent coffee shop, Bella Goose. We have a living room, full kitchen, bathrooms, showers, bunk beds, A.C., and even WiFi!
Right outside our front door is a traditional Thai market that we get to experience each and every night. The market has everything you could want from delicious food and loud music to all kinds of clothes and souvenirs.
Our normal mode of transportation are these big, bright red trucks called Songtows (at least that’s how the word is pronounced…). These lovely trucks drive us to and from ministry every day!
We all have to wear masks because the air in Thailand is 400% pollution. The air is full of smog and without them, it is bad for us to breathe the air.
On Monday through Friday from 9am – 4pm, my team and I join one other team to volunteer at Agape Home. Agape is a home for orphaned kids (infants to 19 years old) who suffer from HIV or AIDS. The heart behind this ministry and all the people involved amazes me each and every day. As we find our places and jobs there, I will update my blog with pictures and videos of what day to day ministry looks like for me here.
This is just a little insight to what my life here in Thailand looks like! I’ve only been here a little over a week and I have already fallen in love with this country and the people I have encountered here. I can’t wait to see what these next two months have in store!
