Reality: the quality or state of being real.
Reality may seem like daunting school work, torturous hours at work or the
never-ending demands of your child. But what if I were to tell you that your
seemingly tiresome reality, is not your reality at all?
Lately my reality has been posing as an extremely stressful unattainable world. I
started my last semester of college. I started my endless research for my 22-page
paper. I started to study for exams. I started four new classes. I started my last 80
hours at my internship. I started coaching soccer. I started/continued to fundraise.
I started to prepare the gear I need for the World Race. I started to prepare to miss
school for 10 days, (for World Race training camp) translating into working ahead in
school (taking exams and writing papers early while keeping up with the current
workload).
Just about the time that my reality seemed to be swallowing me whole, God gave
me a revelation. While I was driving in my car with the passenger seat full of my
racing thoughts, the song “Abba” by All Sons and Daughters came on. As I listened
to this song, God began to overwhelm me with His truth and the phrase “bring me
back to reality” began to saturate my tongue. In this moment, God began to
remind me that my circumstances don’t define me because I belong to the creator
of the universe. The one and only living God has prepared a place for me in heaven
and He is always with me. I will never go a single second without Him right by my
side. He will never forsake me and loves me with true unfailing love. I have been
given access to Him and He listens to my every cry. He relentlessly pursues me and
desires intimacy with me. Jesus holds me in His palm and I fully belong to Him.
Reality, or rather what is real, is the fact that we are temporary beings. And if we
have accepted Jesus as Lord and savior we are citizens of heaven!! We belong to
the creator of the universe, the very ONE who knew every day of our lives before
our first breath of air (Psalm 139: 13-18). Jesus suffered a sinners’ death and rose
from the grave so that WHOMEVER believes in Him shall live for eternity WITH Him
(John 3:16). As children of God, our reality is found in Him alone. For me, this
reminder of my actual reality (found in Jesus alone) is so exciting and refreshing.
This reality brings such peace. And the cool thing is, regardless of the reality the
world tries to sell me, my reality is set in stone in Christ alone.
God is so extremely good and I pray that as you read this, the creator of the
universe will lay this same revelation of reality upon your heart. The world will
continue to yell into your ear if you continue to listen. God will continue to speak
life into you if you will listen. You were given ears to hear, and have been given the
privilege to select what you listen to. With this, I pray that we would hear God’s
voice so clearly that the world seems to be voiceless.
Live loved,
Micaela
