About one week ago, my team and I arrived in Mokhotlong, Lesotho. Lesotho is a small kingdom encircled completely by the country of South Africa with an abundance of mountains and rivers. We are living mountain life this month; at night the temperatures are in the low 30s and 40s, but it gets quite warm and sunny during the day. The views are incredible, and I can’t believe I get to spend a month here.
My team and I are staying at a mission house and serving with Harvester’s Bible Church, which is pretty cool considering our team name is International Harvesters! We sleep and eat our meals at the mission house, but we serve in different locations throughout the day.
Sometimes, we work in the garden at the church, helping them to prepare the ground for planting season, or we visit the local hospital to give encouragement, provide hot meals, pray for the sick, and love on the women in the pregnancy ward.
We’ve also had the chance to do prison ministry, one of my favorite experiences thus far in Mokhotlong. Many of the men there are imprisoned because they have stolen livestock to feed their family. Pastor Isaac, who runs the prison ministry, wants to start a program to teach the prisoners how to run a chicken farm, that way, when they are released, they will have a skill and a means to provide for their family. Please click here if you would like to help support this prison ministry (make sure you read the PayPal bio for full details).
We are looking forward to three more weeks in Lesotho, and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for us here.
Until the Whole World Hears,
Mia
