You don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here!
It’s a lengthy blog title, but I’ve been so excited to use it because it’s fun, but also says “The party is over, find something else to do!” Even though I don’t have to, I am going home after the Race and I couldn’t be more happy to return to the good ol’ town of Wheatland.
With exactly 1 week left of the World Race, it is beyond time for me to start thinking about post-race life. Let’s be real, it’s been on my mind for a while.
So what does life look like for me when I get back to the land I love? Well, lets just thank God for parents that are welcoming home their jobless, penniless, 22 yr old daughter with open arms.
First, a few basic questions I have been asked…
Q. Will I get a job when I get back?
A. Of course. After I sleep for a month. As much as my folks are excited to have me back, they aren’t the type to be bummed off of and I ain’t no slacker y’all.
Q. Will I go back to school and further my education?
A. Will you fill out scholarships for me? (TBD.)
Q. Will I go back on the mission field?
A. As great an experience as this has been, I currently do not feel called to that area.
Q. Do I have life goals?
A. Yes. To live life to the fullest and laugh a lot.
But seriously.
I don’t know what my next step in life looks like and for one of the first times in my life I am completely okay with that. I am looking at a few different opportunities but I’m not in a hurry and with a little prayer, faith, and work, I know everything will fall into place when it needs to.
So for now I’m going to go home to my family and best friend, eat a giant beef steak, and sleep in a bed full of pillows.

This week will be spent with the whole squad at final debrief in Panama City. This is a time specifically set up to help us process the last year as well as equip us for re-entry into the States as smoothly as possible!
