let’s start this off with the most amazing group of girls i have every been given the blessing of connecting with. my team. my family. (minus iris, she had to leave camp early) L to R abby, kate, zoe, me, and caroline.

i’ve never been sure if i am an extrovert or introvert. either way, this space in my tent became a blessing and safe haven for processing, prayer, and meditation for a few days. honestly, by the end of the 10 days i had skipped on the tent and ended up sleeping in my hammock which was more comfortable than i ever thought. got called out for snoring all night, sorry guys…

LET’S ALL TAKE A MOMENT TO PRAISE GOD FOR COFFEE AM I RIGHT?! what i do know about myself is i have NEVER been a morning person. so the moment Caroline told me she had more coffee packets than days left at camp was one of the most excited moments i’ve ever been at 7:30 am. waking my mind up with Bible study and fellowship with my girls is going to be such a highlight for our trip for me (especially when Ethiopian coffee will be involved!)

you guys already know zoe, but on the left is alyssa and in the middle is laura. alyssa and laura are some of the funniest and realest girls i’ve gotten to know. having them as squadmates and friends is such a blessing and is going to make layovers at airports much more fun.

God’s beauty is seen in everything. from smiling faces, to hands in the air at worship, to the soft haze surrounding you at 6:30 in the morning. i took this while leaving our airport stimulation one night. the training center was set up like an airport terminal, and we had to spend the night there with lights on and airplane noises playing. while waiting in line to use the port-a-potties as a dressing room the next morning, i looked up and this scene took my breath away. unfortunately my iphone camera couldn’t perfectly grasp the amazing view God had given us, but i am sure many of you have had moments like this and can relate. our Creator is so talented!

another K Squad friend noah. just had to show off our groovy glasses.

one of the camp’s neighbors owns this sweet little guy. as you may know, i am a dedicated animal lover, so he definitely lifted my spirits during camp. i will never forget during the second hike at 7 am when i had to get over the big hill for the last time. as i approached the top i saw him sitting at the top waiting. the joy his wagging tail and panting smile gave me a burst in my step (mostly so i could give him a rub and tell him he’s a good boy). God sure does know how to motivate me.

my girl abby. her search to find her own funky spirit is inspiring and so much fun to watch. God placed her and the rest of the girls on my team in my life for a reason, and i can’t wait for us to find our purposes for one another during this next year. she has already taught me a lot about gentleness and confidence. i mean c’mon, not just anyone can pull off corn rows like that!

and now to end this post with the magnificent port-a-potties. for 11 days we did not use any plumbing. from bucket and hose showers to pumping water with my feet to wash my hands, it was all an experience. you won’t catch me taking indoor plumbing for granted any longer!
