First the travel to Zambia. After a 1.5 hour flight from Bucharest we got to Istanbul again then we took a 10 hour flight to Johannesburg, South Africa. Had to go through customs and the border then check into a new flight to Lusaka, Zambia. It was a 2 hour flight there.
This month all the terms worked with a new host with the World Race. So we were the guinea pigs. We got picked up by the leader in the country of this organization called Strategic Impact. We landed at about 7 at night so we go to stay in Lusaka that night and then we left for Serenje, Zambia at 5am the next day. It was a 6 hour ride to Serenje, Zambia. In American terms it was a farm town.
Coming off a good debrief and month I was ready for Africa and all it had involved. It was the place that was the least like America. It was fun. It was uncomfortable but it was worth it all.
The first day of ministry we walked threw the Zambia community/compound. We walk to a house with a bunch of lady working outside and it was me and justin and a couple translators. The translators said they want to hear a white man preach. So Justin jumped up and started preaching. The whole day was us going from house to house preaching 10 minutes sermons encouraging people. After lunch me and Justin went to the prison and he preached and I gave a word. There were 77 people that raised there hand for salvation in the prison that day.
For the whole month we went around evangelizing to people in Serenje and surrounding villages. We preached sermons every Sunday. We walked hundreds of miles. Road in cars that made me pray the whole time we were in them. We worship with Zambians. We made relationships with the families we stayed with. We preached and prayed with officers, lawyers, prosecutors, district commissioners, accountants, prisoners and the not yet guilty.
Zambia was a crazy place. The cars scared me to death, the people where so welcoming. The need for God is real, and you see it in the people there. Keep Zambia in your prays.
