When I picture missions I envision 24 hours of sacrifice and grueling tasks. Like unclogging a toilet with your bare hands or wearing the same pair of underwear for five days straight. Yes, both of these could’ve been avoided but I’m young and I’m still learning! However, God has more in store for me than just hospital visits for food poisoning or crammed car rides for hours. He has given me new friends that I’ve been able to do life with, new sights and tastes, and most importantly a stronger relationship with Him.
God spoke to me and gave me the verse Galatians 6:9 which says “So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessings if we don’t give up.” It would be easy to give up, which is exactly what the Devil has tried to get me to do through sickness and other little things, but I must remember that God is so big and so powerful and that He dwells in every aspect of my life and wants to give us blessings! How cool is it to think that our Lord and savior, who is worthy of all praise, endured the same hardships and pain that we have or will face in the future. We are not at this alone.
My harvest of blessings has been seeing our hosts smile and getting so pumped about the community building that we are doing. Last Sunday, we had almost 65 people come to church, which is more than double what the average was before. Let me tell you that this was not through our power or wise words, but God working through us. The excitement in our hosts’ voices encourages me to keep pressing on and has made me realize that our suffering is so so worth it. I cannot wait to see what God does with their ministry in the years to come.
I would like to thank all those that have partnered with me and shown me so much love and support. I also want to encourage you to think of, pray for, and support the families that sacrifice the comforts of their homelands and travel to foreign places to radically live their lives for the Lord. Coming alongside these people may be a way that God is calling you to be his hands. I have learned that the Lord wants to give each of us a harvest of blessings, as he has for me and he can use us to bless one another. I am so humbled to be able to do this for such a short amount of time and I pray for the ones that continue to do it everyday.
Thanks for reading,
Logan
