Hola! Bienvenido a Honduras!
Hello! Welcome to Honduras!
This month has been a whirlwind of emotions for me. It has been the most challenging month and the sweetest month. The reason it’s been the most challenging is because I have been stripped away from what feels comfortable. We just celebrated Thanksgiving in Honduras. This is the first time in my life I haven’t been home for the holidays. I’m not going to lie, it has been really hard for me. But I am excited to celebrate with my family next year. This year for thanksgiving our squad was at a awakening conference with two other world race squads. It was full of worship, speakers, relaxing, and getting to know the other squads. My squad made thanksgiving sweet because we had a thanksgiving meal together and got thanksgiving cards. It made it a little bit easier being away.
This month we are living inside of the church we are serving at. Our host Rony and Ester gave up their home for the month to make us more comfortable. This was a very humbling moment and it took me by complete surprise . We were so blessed by our host this month. When you continue to read this paragraph, I don’t want you to think I’m complaining, I just want to let you in so you can understand why it was a hard month for me. At the church we didn’t have AC and it gets really HOT during the day. It literally feels like your sitting inside of a sauna, and you are constantly pouring sweat. It was uncomfortable to me because you never knew if you were going to have water to shower with that day. It was a big reality check. At the church we had a big water tank inside that provided us with water for showers. The water system was not the best so most of the time we would go to sleep and wake up and the water tank would be empty. When the water tank would fill up and would get too full it would flood the church. This is something that happened quite often lol. It’s basically a running joke between our team. The bathroom situation was quite the experience. We couldn’t flush normally so we had to fill a bucket with water and pour it in the toilet fast to make it flush.
The reason this month has been the most rewarding is because of the connections I made with the people here. Our host this month was Pastor Rony and his beautiful wife Ester. From the moment we met them it felt like family, like we have known them forever. They have invested so much time into us. They have poured out so much love and grace. They have been a true example of how to love hard and dive deep in connection. I was nervous about not knowing much Spanish because they only knew Spanish. But Jesus has broken the language barrier and we were able to communicate. I don’t know much Spanish and that’s all Ester knows. Ester and I will sit and talk and laugh and have the best time together. Yeah most of the time we don’t understand each other we still have the best time. She is truly a women of God that is full of Joy.
This month we had church three days a week; Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. When Pastor Rony told us we were going to have church three days a week I was a little hesitant because that’s a lot for me. But it’s been incredible because we get to be in constant community with the people in this town. The people in this church are not afraid to be themselves. They worship in freedom and they don’t care who is watching.
Want to hear a cool story about Jesus healing? Well, we experienced a healing on Wednesday at church. This sweet lady named “bb” came to the front for prayer and Kevin(missionary from Costa Rica) began praying for her. After a few moments he asked if she had pain in her feet and she said yes. Kevin asked a few of us to lay hands on her feet with him to pray. So we prayed for healing and immediately she told us she was not in anymore pain! The next service we asked her if she still felt no pain in her feet and she said the pain was still gone and she was healed! How amazing is that?!
Next week we will be heading to Africa. I am so excited to see what God has in store for me. We will be changing teams as well. So we will be starting out in a new continent with new people. So keep us in your prayers as you think about it. I don’t know what the wifi will look like in Africa so I might not be able to update you as much as normally. But I will send out an update as soon as I can! Thank you for your support and prayers. I truly feel them(:
We are currently in Africa! yay! we haven’t had wifi so I haven’t been able to post this!
Xoxo,
