We were blessed to meet a beautiful woman who was having some back pain and wanting prayer. A member of our team prayed over her for healing and she received relief from her back pain. The woman was so joyful and thankful that she wanted to know more and bring us to her family to share the blessing. We met up with her the next day and had lunch with her. We began to talk about prayer and how it is all through the power of Jesus’s name and that it has nothing to do with us and that she too could pray. My heart broke as she responded that she could not because she was on her period and was thus unclean. In the her culture women during that time are not allowed to enter the temples. We explained that Jesus’s sacrifice makes us clean and that she could pray any time and anywhere. She took us to her home to pray for her sons. We had an opportunity to share the good news with them and they were receptive to it!!! This family had literally never heard the name of Jesus before, it put the phrase unreached people groups into perspective!! As we prayed over her sons we laid hands on them and this woman walked over laid hands on her sons and began to pray for her sons and weep!! It was such a beautiful and powerful moment and I thank God that he let us be a part of it!!!

In addition to sharing the good news we also take part in discovery groups with new believers, helping them grow in their faith and solidify it. During the last group me and a couple of my teammates led a group with two women. As we closed we asked if there was anything we could be praying for. One of the women asked for prayer to help her not worry. She opened up and shared how she deeply desires a husband and culturally she feels pressure to have one by now as she is 29. What a small world that we as women can be on opposite sides of the world and have completely different upbringings yet have so much in common!! I was able to share my struggle with the very same thing, encourage her and pray for her. It even helps me to make the waiting worth while to bless someone else starting in their faith!

And then there is the women I have been so blessed to serve alongside. Our team name GWOP means warriors of peace, and that we are! They are so full of love and passion, peace and joy. We have different strengths and gifts that we love to play into but also desire to help each other grow in our weaknesses. We are constantly in prayer for one another and the direction we should go. We laugh a lot, cry occasionally, worship together, and love well! Some people say they wouldn’t want to be on an all girl team but I think it is powerful and I’m blessed to be on it!
