Women are Radiant, Precious, Strong and so much more!

A few weekends ago was woman’s day and throughout the week I was thinking about the multitudes of women I’ve encountered and have had the pleasure of meeting. Over the past few months I’ve met women from 6 different countries, cultures, languages, plus countless other differences that make them special. All women are wonderfully and beautifully made (Psalm 139:14). Women in particular also carry special gifts that give us a beautiful picture of God’s character and power.

Around the world women are mothers, grandmothers, daughters, students, leaders, teachers, helpers, role models, etc, and a quality I see a lot of the time are women who are Fighters. Women I’ve seen and talked with are women who never give up! I also see women encourage and call each other higher, which helps fuel the fighter within them.

In Serbia the young ladies in Zumba class stepped out of their comfort zone. The young ladies who couldn’t dance still chose to dance and become better. They pushed themselves and didn’t give up.

In Romania our host’s wife was a women who fought for the lost. She wanted everyone she met to know Jesus. She wanted others to know the unfailing love Jesus has for them. She pursues others as Christ pursued her and she never gave up hope.

In Malawi, our host was a Malawian women who is an amazing leader and is a woman who fights for her people. Her and a friend built a school and an after school program that raises up leaders in the community and helps provide them with resources to go to college. Her life as a whole is centered on the good news of Jesus and it’s clear to see in her life that Jesus is the one who continues to call her to fight and serve.

In Zimbabwe, kids taught me a lot. The young ladies I got close with were determined and eager to finish middle school and high school, and do it with the best of their ability. During some of the physical obstacles I saw women face their fears and push themselves as hard as they could go. At such a young age they were strong. They didn’t give up.

In Botswana, I saw women trust the Lord with the unknown. My friend at the cafe was a high school graduate and didn’t know what to do with the rest of her life, but she knew she was in the hands of the Lord. Trusting the Lord with the unknown is complete faith and that alone takes courage and strength.

In Cambodia, I see women empower one another. This month we are working alongside women in LandMine Design and not all women are believers. To see other Khmer women reach out and share the good news with the other women is such a beautiful picture. This is what the Lord calls us to and it’s encouraging see these women take what they learn and put it to action.

They may be going through a tough time in school, with their job, family and in general life, but they choose to endure and persevere.

Within each woman is a fighter and also someone who is loving, caring, tender, strong, and precious. As a women I praise the Lord for who we are and what He does in our lives to make us strong!

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” – Psalm 139:14
