Wow, this is the final month! God has taught me so much over this past year! Thanks for following along with my blogs and commenting or sharing if you were going through the same thing too!!

Unlike most months where I shared three things, this month I’m only going to share one. Why? This has been a pivotal lesson and probably one of the greatest things I’ve learned this past year!

The Great Commandment comes before the Great Commission

The Great Commandment:
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” This is the first and greatest commandment.
Matthew? ?22:37-38? ?NIV??

The Great Commission:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.
Matthew? ?28:19-20? ?NIV??

I really wish I learned this earlier on in the race! On a trip like the World Race, it’s easy to try and work towards the Great Commission, and pursue the Great Commandment if you have time. You feel like you’re split between the two, that you need to give your time to one or the other…

BUT THAT IS TOTALLY NOT THE CASE!!

If you pursue the Great Commandment, you will naturally fulfill the Great Commission!! Let me say that again. Do the Great Commandment and EVERYTHING ELSE will fall into place. You’ll love people you naturally aren’t able to love, you’ll stop and talk to people that generally get passed by every day, you’ll challenge and call people higher, and most importantly – YOU POINT PEOPLE TO JESUS BECAUSE YOU’RE OVERFLOWING HIS LOVE TO OTHERS!! And when people encounter Jesus, well that’s the Great Commission!!

Scott, Jen, Caitlin, and Nathan – if you read this, thank you so much for pouring into us and helping me learn this truth!!
