This past weekend, my team and I had the opportunity to go to a graduation for an In-Depth program that Youth for Christ organizes for the youth of different communities. While there, they did an offering for the church. As I began to pull out my wallet, the lady next to me said, “Oh, can I please, please have just 10 cents?” I turned to her and said, “Yes, of course.” As I continued to dig through my wallet, I found 10 cents and handed it to her. She was SO happy. She had the biggest smile on her face as she said, “Thank you, Thank you!!”

I expected this lady to keep it for herself, but who am I to make assumptions? As the offering basket made it’s way to our row, I put my offering in the basket, and to my disbelief, she threw her 10 cents in the offering jar.

The excitement that this lady had because she could give something back to Jesus was one of the sweetest things I have ever experienced. This lady did not care that it was only 10 cents. This lady was so happy that she had something to give the Lord. It would have been so easy for her to keep this money for herself, but her desire to give back to the Lord was so evident.

This lady taught me something that day. She taught me that even the smallest gifts to the Lord is a pleasing aroma to Him. He loves our sacrifices, and He loves when we give to Him. Yes, it was only 10 cents. But that doesn’t matter to the Lord. What matters is that woman’s desire and heart of giving back to the Lord. It was only 10 cents, but the Lord was so pleased that day.

Even 10 cents can change someone’s whole day, and their whole relationship with the Lord.
