Late night television, flipping through the channels. I hear this on a commercial:
“Our journey isn’t linear. God sees the long view. We want people or ourselves to change instantly.
…Jesus has shown us that He is willing to walk WITH us on our journey. “
These aren’t the exact words, but this is what stick out to me most.
When I was thinking about applying for the world race, the devil attacked my mind. “You’re not good enough. You don’t have a church family for support. There’s no way you could raise the money for this. Who are you to go into the world and preach the gospel?”
I now know that I am a child of God. He has called me to do this mission for Him. If not me then who? If not now then when? God called ME for this. Yes I have worked so hard to prepare myself for this, spiritually, mentally, emotionally. It is not an easy task. I’m not where I want to be in my relationship with the Lord. But I am his child. He has called me. My journey isn’t linear. I can’t change myself instantly. God sees the road ahead. So I will say, “God, today I will mess up, and I need you.”
“I’m not longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God.” – No Longer Slaves by Bethel
When the man on tv said “Jesus has shown us that He is willing to walk WITH us on our journey,” I realized that’s what I’ll be doing on this mission trip. We will be living with these people. Learning their hearts. I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for me and all the people I will meet on this journey.
Thank you God for choosing me.
