Coming into Nepal for a month was a breath of fresh air- and not just because the air is cleaner. After a tough month in India, I was looking forward to a new beginning. And that is just what I got.

We walked a couple of kilometers to get across the border from India to Nepal- it was dusty and hot but I was glad to be moving forward. We arrived in Nepal just after 1pm- it took us another 9 hours to get into Kathmandu.

From the get go, it was refreshing to be here. It was cooler- which felt like a gift from heaven, after the suffocating heat of India. We had to wait in Kathmandu for 2 weeks for our Chinese visas, so in the 3rd week we went to Pokhara.

In Pokhara our team had a couple of great opportunities so, instead of saying no to one of them, our team split up. Three of the girls stayed at our hotel and visited with a family who had just moved back to Nepal after 10 years. They were able to pray with them, do bible studies with them, and, in general, spend time with and encourage them. The rest of us when to spend a few days with a local NGO. We helped in the day care, in the kitchen, in the garden, and with their Saturday programme with kids from the slums. We were able to spend time encouraging them, also, and we loved just being in that environment. Seeing what the local church body looked like and being able to come alongside them, even if just for a few days, was an incredible time. We didn’t want to leave.

We have been back in Kathmandu for 6 days and will leave for Tibet tomorrow. We will be taking a 5 day tour through Tibet to get to China. Put this ont he list of things I never thought I would do.
