Thailand Water Festival—many people travel from all over the world to experience this “Holiday” and throw water on people.  It’s a four-day event in which, if you leave the house, prepare to get wet.  People line the roads with buckets, hoses and water-guns.  Others fill the back of pickups with water containers and throw water from the back of the truck.  Whether you want it or not, you won’t return dry.

What if we made this expectation part of our life?  “Wherever we go, prepare to get wet—with God’s love”.  Prepare to stand on the sidelines and drench those who drive by; prepare to drench those who stand on the sidelines while you are going your way.  As you step out into community, prepare to get soaked with love, new gifts and anointings and anything else people can give away.

“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38.

Flow—a stream can only flow if there is enough water to keep it steady.  As believers, we have access to the steady, constant flow of life.

When we allow the Lord to fill us daily and to meet all our needs, we begin to bless others without effort—from our overflow.  His love stains everything we touch.  It wrecks what doesn’t belong and it causes life to grow in every area—even the deadest of places.

I’m learning that we can easily turn this flow off—but that’s not what it was meant for.  God doesn’t bless us so that we can try to contain everything He gives us.  He blesses us so that we can GIVE to others.  Everything that’s given to us—every gift, every calling, every blessing—is meant to be put to use or given away in order to expand the Kingdom.  It takes a willingness to step out and allow this flow to gush out of us.

Next time you head to a church service or meet up with friends, look for the gifts that they have to offer you.  Wherever you go, go with an expectation that God wants to bless you through someone else.
