It has been almost four months of learning to see others as God sees them.
When Jesus started his ministry, those in his home town didn’t accept him as the Messiah because they SAW HIM GROW UP–this surely wasn’t the childhood of the Messiah, they thought… Therefore, those people didn’t receive from Jesus during his ministry because they put limits on him.
It is so easy for us to judge others–to say someone is too young or too old. To say that someone has too many problems in life. To say their life is going down the wrong road and they won’t ever turn back. But is that how the Lord sees us?
I don’t think so!! And he is changing my heart to see others differently, too.

Here is a little papaya tree. Just a few years old and not even as tall as me, yet this little guy is being weighed down by it’s own fruit. Even though it is young, it is living a fruitful life.

Here is a tree that literally couldn’t support the fruit that it was producing. Sometimes, we need others around us to support us in the time of our fruitfulness until our roots grow deeper and our foundation grows stronger. Despite how little or immature we look, God can and will use us. Despite how old we may be, the Lord can prune us and cause us to live and produce fruit as a youth again!
So far on this race, he has used those that I never would have expected–for donations, for teaching me things, for keeping in touch with me while I’m away.
I have decided to stop limiting the people around me, but instead to see EVERYONE as a vessel that God chooses to use to make this world a better place. Every person has good in them–a lot of good because they were created in the IMAGE of God. And every person has treasure to offer–can you see the treasure in those around you?
