Hi all!!
I made a video so you all can see my smiling face, but I’m having difficulties uploading it.
But for now, here’s an update.
It’s been four days since we arrived in El Salvador. We are living at a church with amazing hosts who are very encouraging and taking great care of us!! First night was a little overwhelming; we arrived at the church and had a church service–Spanish only. But the people here are very friendly. There was a miscommunication with the hosts, so they didn’t plan ministry for this week, thinking we needed time to rest from travels. However, it has been an amazing few days getting to know our host family and getting to know each other.
So, the last few days have been filled with plans for next week. Today, we coached soccer for boys and girls who came from an abusive home. We had the opportunity to encourage them. Next week, we start ministry in the schools. Half of our team (me included) will be teaching English, while the other half are coaching basketball. In the evenings, we will be sharing and giving messages in the church and small groups. Just before bed, we play ping pong to improve our skills in order to beat the El Salvadorian boys!! Taylor is already dominating them!!!
Our host family is spread thin with many tasks throughout the week, so I won’t be surprised if more tasks are added while we are here. But team Soul Spark has agreed to be flexible and take what comes.
Here are a few things about El Salvador that we’ve learned so far: El Salvador is very westernized–they have everything that America has, including Starbucks (which I’m currently at because they have wifi). They take U.S. currency. We have real toilets and bunk beds (hooray!!!) Everyone is extremely friendly and LOVES to give hugs, which I’m enjoying! We have learned to make bugs, rodents and lizards a daily part of our lives. So far, all is well!!
Once I figure out how to post videos, I will be posting a few times a month! But until then, here are a few photos.
Drive from the airport to the church (2-3 hours)
Mountains!!! Pictures don’t show its true beauty.

I will try to post again when I can! I pray blessings over all of you and I thank you for all the support you’ve shown!!
